Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church

Parish History: Consecration | Bishop Job's Visit
In 1988, His Grace Bishop Boris (Geeza) blessed the members of the Chapel to establish a new church on the Seven Mile Rd property and assigned Fr Matsko as the full-time pastor.  The church membership voted to name this church Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church (HTOC).  Slowly, but surely, membership increased.  HTOC purchased an additional two acres of land which adjoined the current property.  The house on the property became a rectory for Fr Matsko and his family until a new home was constructed on the property.

Following construction of the parish home, a garage facility was added to the original building.  At that point, the membership voted to construct a new church facility.  On October 11, 1998, His Grace Bishop Job broke ground where our current building exists.  Construction started in 1999 and was completed in March, 2000.  Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church was consecrated on May 2004 by His Beatitude Metropolitan Herman and His Grace Bishop Job.  This consecration is indeed not a culmination, but a new beginning of God’s blessings on His faithful servants.

Over the years HTOC has become a spiritual home to many people and families, including a large number of those who have come to the Orthodox Faith from other religious backgrounds.  These now make up a third or more of the parish.  Our hope and prayer is that we can continue to be a parish that reaches out and welcomes all those who are seeking Christ.

May God grant Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church and its faithful
many, many blessed years!
